The Umbrellas first album was released on vinyl LP (no longer available sorry!) in 1985, and remastered for this digital release in 2015. It was also released on CD in 1990 and copies are still available. The album contains 6 original compositions by Peter Dasent ("Man On A Grey Couch" was co-written by Arthur Baysting), and was recorded live in a small hall in Darlinghurst, Sydney Australia. The opening track, "Bear Dinkum In The Moonlight" is a piano solo written for the now-defunct Marionette Theatre of Australia's production "Bear Dinkum". "Childhood" features a tenor sax solo from Mark Simmonds.

With Peter Dasent on piano and organ, Jonathan Zwartz on double bass, Mark Simmonds on tenor sax, Andrew Wilkie on vibes and marimba and John Armstrong and Doug Eyre on oboe and bassoon.
